The District's first purchase unit was acquired in
1970.
Facilities at the 270-acre site include the District's
office, a primitive campground, picnic shelter with grills, hiking
trails,
horse trails, and cross-country ski trails. Natural areas include
an oak-hickory forest, old field areas, and restored prairies.
Coyotes,
white-tailed deer, and wild turkeys are commonly observed at the
site.
A shelter and campground are routinely used by church groups, scout
groups,
clubs, other smaller groups, and also for events such as family
reunions.
